Kimbrelle B Lewis, Ed.D.

School Alignment Partnership Advisor​

Dr. Kimbrelle Barbosa Lewis is the Executive Director of Instruction and Professional Learning at the International Center for Leadership in Education at Colonial Beach Public Schools in Virginia.  Prior to her current role, Dr. Lewis was the President of the National Association of Elementary Principals (NAESP) from 2020-to-2021. In that role, she served as the spokesperson for over 17,000 members and affiliates in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada, and overseas schools. She is the Chair of the National Taskforce on Race and Equity for NAESP. Dr. Lewis previously served as a Director-at-large, Zone 4 Director, and Chair of NAESP’s Diversity Task Force. 

Dr. Lewis served as a school administrator for more than 14 years, in Tennessee. She was the principal and instructional leader for Cordova Elementary School at Shelby County Schools in Tennessee. She was a teacher, Curriculum Director, and Assistant Principal at Memphis City Schools. 

Dr. Lewis earned her doctoral degree (Ed.D.) at Vanderbilt University in Leadership and Learning in Organizations, an Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision from Union University, MA from Union University in Curriculum and Instruction, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Rhodes College. Dr. Lewis brings a wealth of knowledge to our school district, particularly around instruction, professional learning, coaching, assessment, MTSS, strategic planning, school improvement best practices, fiscal management, and community relations.
